An award-winning distillery is launching a limited edition drink inspired by a unique Norfolk berry.
Black Shuck Gin was announced as the winner of the Best Norfolk Producer award in the Norfolk Magazine Food and Drink awards in recognition of its innovation and excellence in the industry in September.
Now the business is looking ahead to another successful year of innovation with its Chuckleberry Gin Liqueur.
The chuckleberry fruit, which owners Patrick and Sarah Saunders say originated in Norfolk, was created when a redcurrant was crossed with gooseberry and jostaberry.
The jostaberry is a hybrid of a gooseberry and a blackcurrant.
The result is a chuckleberry that is a little larger than blackcurrant and packed with flavour.
Mrs Saunders said: “In 2021 the Black Shuck team began work on several recipes before deciding on a Chuckleberry Gin Liqueur.
"The results were so stunning that it earned the status of Special Reserve. The first limited edition batch has produced just 250 bottles making it a special treat and a great gift for collectors.”
The drink went on sale on November 1.
