A popular city brunch spot renowned for its huge queues has announced a major shake-up to its business model.

Number 33 in the Park, in Chapelfield Gardens, has introduced bookings at the restaurant.

It is the sister venue of the Number 33 cafe in Exchange Street which is well-known for its long queues during peak brunch hours.

Nichola Hay, owner, said: "Being walk-in only works really well for those people who are willing to queue but so many people have asked for this over the years.

"We appreciate people standing outside but now it's coming up to winter and it's cold and wet.

"This new venture in the park gives us the chance to try something different."

Booking will only be available at Number 33 in the Park and is part of an effort to accommodate more families as well as theatre-goers over the festive season.

Both venues will also be introducing a 'virtual queue' system which allows visitors to leave the cafe and be notified on their phone when a table becomes available.

Number 33 will also be using an app to allow customers to check live availability before coming to eat.

Ms Hay added: "This is a first for Norwich.

"We've had a really overwhelming summer and hopefully this will be good for larger tables."
