A man has described feeling 'defenceless' as he was allegedly raped and sexually assaulted by another man he gave a lift home to almost 20 years ago.
The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was a teenager when he gave Shaun Gilder, then in his 20s, a lift home from a barbecue in Blundeston, Suffolk.
Norwich Crown Court has heard the car being driven by the alleged victim pulled onto an estate being built in Gorleston near the James Paget University Hospital (JPUH) in the early hours of May 22, 2004, so Gilder, who was drunk, could be sick.
gone on trial having denied two counts of rape and one of assault by penetration against the victim after they pulled over.
Gilder, 40, formerly of Norwich but now of Chestnut Avenue, Oulton Broad, near Lowestoft, hasGiving evidence on Tuesday (October 31) the victim said he was "defenceless" against Gilder who "began to force himself onto me" and pinned him against the car.
The jury of eight women and four men heard a police interview with the victim in 2018 in which he said: "I told him I didn't want this but he wouldn't take no for an answer."
He said: "I shouted, I screamed, I told him to get off me."
The victim said he told Gilder "You're hurting me, I don't want this."
After being raped, the victim said he was then sexually assaulted by Gilder and "tried to resist" but said this "made the pain a lot worse".
He said he was then "dragged into the back of the car" before being raped for a second time.
Jurors heard the victim first went to police in September 2004 but did not pursue the prosecution at the time due to the state of his own health and as he had not come out to everyone, including his grandparents.
In a second interview, given to police in 2021, he said what happened had "stuck with me for a long, long time" and was "still with me to this day".
He said: "It screwed me up."
The trial continues.
