A bid to build a roof extension has been rejected - with planners calling the proposal "jarring and uncomfortable".
Great Yarmouth Borough Council has refused a planning application to remove a roof and replace it with a higher pitch and raised eaves to form accommodation at a house on Station Road South in Belton.
The proposal would have seen the roof height increase from 7.9m to 10.4m.
There were no objections to the bid - but planners said the taller roof would appear "jarring and uncomfortable".

The scale, form and appearance of the two storey rear extension was "too large and incongruous when compared to the character of the original dwelling and the surrounding street scene".

Officials also said there would be adverse impacts on a neighbouring house.
"Residents of that neighbouring dwelling would experience an increased sense of overbearing development and a reduction in outlook especially from their front amenity space and their front rooms," they stated.
The house itself was built before 1913 and originally formed part of a small hamlet to east of the former railway line and Belton railway station.
