A Norfolk neighbourhood will transform into a mystical maze for Halloween.

Each year, Flanders Rise in Wymondham turns into a spooky maze for trick-or-treaters to explore - but this one is set to be the biggest yet.

Although around 200 people attended the previous maze, the neighbours hope to welcome around 100 more in 2023.

Alyssa Polski-Delve, whose father Ben co-ordinates the event, said: "The walk-through maze will be much bigger this year allowing us to display more of our ghosts and ghouls and to have people dressed up hiding around corners.

"This year our theme is a monastery that’s being excavated and discovered, where you walk through all the spooky things we’ve found - and we can’t promise you won’t run into a few ghostly nuns."

She added: "The exterior will look almost castle-like with a few ghostly faces, and we’ve purchased a new lighting system so you can’t miss us."

Alyssa, a biomedical scientist currently studying for her PhD, will also run a mad science display at the entrance to the maze where visitors will have to decide whether substances "found at the site" are "safe" or "spooky".

The maze was inspired by American families that the Polski-Delves met while living in the Middle East.

Although the main organisers are the Polskis and the Kurkowskas next door Alyssa said everyone in the street is happy to lend a hand or parking spaces when needed.

Entry is free but the street collects donations for the RSPCA.

It will officially open between 5pm and 9pm on October 31 and any additional runs will be advertised on Facebook in advance.
