A 41-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a man found dead in a Norwich flat two years ago.

Leslie Smith, 63, was found in his Suffolk Square flat on October 17, 2021, with his death initially treated as unexplained by police.

A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Smith could have suffered an injury, with a Home Office post-mortem concluding the cause of death was inconclusive.

But further tests revealed Mr Smith's cause of death was consistent with a fatal wound on his neck.

Neighbours in Suffolk Square, off Vauxhall Street in NR1, described the death as "shocking", with impressions of Mr Smith being mostly positive.

Today (October 19), Theodore Lynch, 41, of HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough was charged with Mr Smith's murder.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court tomorrow at an undisclosed time.
