‘Keeping history sailing’ is the idea behind an upcoming Christmas event near Wroxham.
Called ‘The Very Wherry Christmas’, the Wherry Yacht Charter Charitable Trust is hosting the fundraiser at the Norfolk Gallery at Wroxham Barns on December 4 from 7pm.
Visitors will have a chance to learn more about the charity and shop at the gallery out-of-hours.
Judith Keogh, trustee director of the wherry group, said: “Information will be available about how to charter a wherry for a special occasion or weekend and early bookings will be taken for day trips on the wherries during the 2024 season from May to September.
“The gallery has a wonderful range of artworks for sale, including pictures by the charity’s artist in residence, Su Haywood, and people looking for an unusual gift can purchase a friends’ membership or tickets for a sailing.
“Events like this are an important way of raising funds for the charity to help keep history sailing.”
The trust restores, maintains and operates five of the eight remaining pleasure wherries in the world.
