Fireworks are “as popular as ever” despite the cost-of-living crisis, the owner of Norfolk’s newest firework retailer has said.
Chris Bell, the owner of Norfolk Fireworks Ltd in Stalham, said fireworks are still in high demand ahead of Bonfire Night – with the average spend of his customers coming in at more than a whopping £800.
“We’ve seen a huge increase in demand for fireworks despite the cost-of-living crisis,” Mr Bell, who has a decade of experience in the fireworks and pyrotechnics industry, said.
“I’m getting phone calls on a daily basis enquiring about fireworks.”

Mr Bell started selling fireworks from Norfolk Fireworks Ltd earlier this month.
The company provides a click-and-collect service from a unit at The Staithe in Stalham, selling a range of premium fireworks and display bundles.
“Unfortunately, several displays have been cancelled this year and we’ve already seen an increase in families buying fireworks for home displays," he said.
“You get a lot of people who complain about fireworks and say they should be banned, but I haven’t seen a drop-off in interest in them or the number of people attending displays.
"Premium fireworks don’t have to be expensive and can suit all budgets. Our fireworks start from £7 and we also offer packages and bundles.
"We want to be a hub for fireworks. The quality is night and day compared to what you would get from a supermarket.
"Even the pop-ups don’t stock the quality of fireworks we have."

Mr Bell also works for Norfolk-based Skylit Pyrotechnics, who put on fireworks displays all year round.
Several fireworks displays have been cancelled across Norfolk this year - including Norwich's Big Boom and Corpusty Bonfire Night in north Norfolk.
