A Norfolk flint cottage set in the heart of the Broads National Park is up for sale for offers of more than £800,000.

Sherwood Cottage, which is situated in an idyllic rural location near Stalham, is believed to have been built in the 18th century.

It was originally a farmhouse on a larger estate and was later converted into two separate cottages.

The current owners reinstated it as one property and have enjoyed it as a family home for almost 40 years.

“Sherwood has been central to the family for many years, providing the perfect backdrop for lots of gatherings and celebrations,” the vendors said.

Samantha Withers from selling agents abbotFox added: “Step inside Sherwood Cottage and you know, immediately, that it’s been such a well-loved home.

“It’s a home to be shared across the generations and I can easily imagine children being raised here, growing up, and then bringing their own children to visit.”

There’s plenty of room for a large family here. On the ground floor, there are three reception rooms – the dining room, living room and garden room – as well as the kitchen, two bathrooms and the study.

In the kitchen, there are a range of bespoke wooden wall and base units, a butler sink, and an Aga set into the large brick hearth.

The kitchen leads to the triple-aspect garden room, which is a more recent addition to the property and has French doors to the garden.

Upstairs, there are six bedrooms accessed by two separate staircases and landing areas.

Four of the bedrooms are good-sized doubles and two are smaller, but could be used as a dressing room, study or snug.

The property, which is constructed from local Norfolk flint, is approached via a farm-style track, with a shingle parking area outside.

To the rear of the property, the garden is mainly south-facing, and includes several terraced areas among the lawns and well-stocked beds, which are bordered by mature trees.

One of the terraces features an undercover outdoor kitchen area with a barbecue and counter space – ideal for summer parties with family and friends.

There are several outbuildings in the garden, including a pretty circular building with a thatched roof which could make a magical children's playhouse.
