A national bakery chain has been given the green light to build a new drive-through on the outskirts of Norwich.
A branch of Greggs has been approved for the Broadland Gate Business Park at Postwick, near the Northern Distributor Road.
The store would sit on an unused plot of land between the Lidl supermarket and the McDonald's restaurant.
Greggs already has more than 20 stores in Norfolk, including nine in the Norwich area.
The application, which was approved by Broadland District Council (BDC) at a meeting on Wednesday, was submitted by two local companies on behalf of the bakery chain.
BDC officials said: “The proposed development technically conflicts with council policy due to the drive-through element of the proposal.
“However, the proposed use is broadly in keeping with the surrounding uses which is wide-ranging, including an existing drive-through, and can be accommodated on the site without having an adverse impact on the local highway network, visual and residential amenities of the area.”
The scheme was unanimously approved by the committee.
