Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was discovered in a wooded area near Norwich.

Matthew Griggs was found unresponsive in an area of woodland off Church Lane in Sprowston on Saturday, September 23. 

An inquest opened into his death today (October 4) which heard the 38-year-old had died after suffering blunt force trauma to his chest.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of his murder on Tuesday, October 3 and has since been released on bail after questioning.

On Wednesday, a second man was also arrested on suspicion of the same offence and remains at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre, where he is being questioned.

Police have since appealed for anybody that may have witnessed two altercations Mr Griggs was believed to have been involved with in the days leading up to his death.

Both incidents occurred in Norwich on Tuesday, September 19.

The first happened at around 7.40am on Ketts Hill, with the second on the bridge of Prince of Wales Road at around 8.30am.

Mr Griggs' body was discovered in an area of woodland in Sprowston shortly before 7.45am on Saturday, September 23 by two passing dog walkers, who attempted to perform life-saving CPR on him.

Paramedics were called and took over his treatment, but he died at the scene.

During the short hearing at Norfolk Coroners' Court, assistant coroner Christopher Leach confirmed that Mr Griggs was born in Norwich in 1985 and that his address was not known.

He adjourned the case until a further hearing on December 21 this year.
