A converted barn in Broomsthorpe with a unique kitchen is on the market at a guide price of £1.1 million.

East Barn was originally one of Broomsthorpe Hall’s farm buildings and is now a breathtaking property with views over open countryside.

Selling agents Jackson-Stops said: “This is a very special barn, and great care has been taken to maintain the integrity and character whilst creating a very stylish and comfortable home.”

On the ground floor, there’s a spacious kitchen/dining room which is truly unique.

The kitchen is fitted with bespoke cabinets and an island, which features a folded copper worktop and copper tap. The other worktop was created using white cement and recycled glass.

Vendor Ed Masters explained: “The glass predominantly came from wine drank at a Coronation party that we hosted (98 bottles) and then some different glass bottles that we came across, including some charity shop bargains!

"I put all the bottles into a cement mixer with a couple of large flints and left the mixer on for about three hours, which crushed them down sufficiently to use in the mix. After curing (10 days) I sanded and polished the top and then applied two coats of resin.”

The kitchen features integrated appliances, including a Siemens dishwasher and a Zanussi double oven.

All of the kitchen cabinets were made by local craftsman Harry Boyt of Birtle and Co from Bungay.

Next to the kitchen/dining room, there’s a striking sitting room, with a wood-burning stove, double height glazing and sliding doors to the terrace. The room features original brickwork and beams. Limestone flooring, with underfloor heating, runs throughout the kitchen and sitting room.

The carpentry has been carried out by local craftsmen too and includes solid oak doors and a wooden ceiling in the kitchen.
