A controversial planning application to build 104 new homes in a Norfolk village has led to a community centre being packed out by concerned residents.
Such was the strength of feeling about the plans by Wellington Construction that people could not all fit into the Leo Coles Pavilion for the Bradwell Parish Council meeting on Monday.
Before the parish meeting, the application of 29 new homes on the land by Kings Drive and 75 houses with a through road from Ollands Road and Meadowland Drive received multiple letters of objection, drawing concerns of a prospective road layout not being "fit for purpose" and unsafe for children and young families.
Around 60 people attended the Bradwell community centre in what was described as a "harmonious meeting".
Bradwell Parish Council chairman Harry Hamilton said: "We couldn't get them all in the door.
"It was a good resident turnout and a very harmonious meeting.
"People were just making their feelings known, which is how it should be."
Residents raised concerns about a new through road on Ollands Road and Meadowland Drive being too narrow to add another 75 houses and a potential 150 or more cars.
Mr Hamilton said the parish council has objected to the plans to Great Yarmouth Borough Council due to the lack of infrastructure.
He added: "The fact that people can't get hospital appointments or see the dentist, and yet the borough council seems to pursue this thing about building more and more houses.
"We want the infrastructure issues to be dealt with first for our residents."
Mr Hamilton also said that plans showed "only one narrow road" to gain access to the plot with a prospective 29 homes by Kings Drive.
"That's an accident waiting to happen," he said.
"Residents are not opposed to the building of new houses, they're just questioning why so many and why so big."
Mr Hamilton said the parish council's objection to the bid was decided before Monday's meeting.
The application has now received 41 objections, two supporting views, one no objection, one comment and one holding objection on Great Yarmouth Borough Council's Planning portal.
A decision is expected by November 7.
