Sheringham High School retains 'Good' Ofsted status

In a report published this month by Ofsted, the education watchdog praised the school for the “high standards” set by teachers which has meant “expectations of pupils are increasingly high”.

Pupils at the school are said to be both “polite and courteous”, and have been welcoming of Ukrainian refugees who have recently started attending.

The school’s curriculum at the time of the inspection in June this year was praised for being “ambitious for pupils”.

The curriculum has since changed, however, as the school moved to a two-year Key Stage 4 programme from the start of the current academic year, with pupils now choosing their GCSE options in Year 9.

The report also credited the “variety of trips” available to all students – including a ski trip and visits to a Christmas market.

The school, which is part of the Synergy Multi Academy Trust, was previously awarded ‘Good’ by Ofsted after its last full inspection in 2014.

Louise Lee, chief executive at Synergy, applauded the continued hard work of staff and students at the school.

She said: “The report highlights the excellent attitudes of our students and the support which they receive from a staff body who demonstrate high expectations for all.

“This is a proud moment for our trust."

Alastair Ogle, the school's executive headteacher, said the Sixth Form is a “real strength of the school” – with students “making excellent progress through an impressive range of academic and vocational courses”.

“The school is further expanding the courses available and encouraging students from across north Norfolk to visit the Sixth Form open evening on September 28,” he said.
