A north Norfolk beach has been named one of the most popular in the country.

Cromer beach was found to be one of the UK's top seafront hotspots in a new study.

Measuring the beaches by the "intensity factor", which looked at the number of Instagram tags, diversity in attractions and UK-wide appeal, Cromer placed sixth among national treasures such as Kynance Cove in Cornwall and Barafundle Bay in Wales.

The study, conducted by the travel blogging website journeyera, said: "Famous for its iconic Victorian pier, a feature that likely contributes to its social media popularity, Cromer stretches over 1,000 meters and is a family-friendly destination with enough room for everyone to enjoy traditional beach activities."

Cromer was named the second-best beach to visit by Tripadvisor in August, based on data taken from the top 300 beaches in England.

It was rated highly on its water quality, visitor rating, number of cafes and restaurants and its safety facilities.
