Auction House East Anglia held its sixth auction of the year on Wednesday, September 13, selling 55 lots and raising nearly £9 million.

“In a changing market, our September auction result can fill us all with a level of confidence moving forward to our November sale,” said Robert Hurst, auction surveyor. “The number of properties sold by auction continues to increase, and with auction sales exchanging contracts the moment the gavel falls, this is highly time-efficient for both owners and buyers.

“Our advice to motivated sellers is, as ever, to be realistic with expectations. Despite much negative economic commentary, our results show we are still selling lots of property in these challenging times.

“The highest price lot was a four-bedroom detached house set in 18 acres on Felthorpe Road in Attlebridge, which sold for £800,000 off a guide of £550,000 – showing one-off, best-in-class properties will always command a premium.

“The lowest price lot was a riverside amenity plot extending to around 700 sq ft, with access to the River Yare, off Harmer Lane in Norwich, which sold for £10,300.

“The most unusual lot was a parcel of land comprising around one mile of disused railway bed between Hillington and Harpley. The line was closed to passengers in 1959 and closed to freight in 1965. The line ran from South Lynn to Melton Constable and formed part of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway.”
