A man has admitted causing the death of a woman after he crashed into her car in a stolen Land Rover while trying to escape from police.

Marcin Jablonski, 44, was in a £90,000 Defender being chased by officers when he smashed into a Nissan Juke on the A143, near Earsham.

The Nissan driver, Aisatou Mballow-Baldeu, who was in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

However, a Norwich Crown Court hearing on Thursday (September 14) - at which Jablonski pleaded guilty - was told that his son, who has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, was being sought by police after twice being granted bail by magistrates.

Chris Youell, prosecuting, said police "were looking for him" but "couldn't say they were going to find him" with it feared he might have returned to Poland.

Mr Youell said after being initially granted bail, Urbaniak, from Newmarket, was "arrested running down the railway track" but then granted bail again.

Urbaniak's barrister Stephen Mather said he had "scant information" about the defendant or his whereabouts.

He also admitted aggravated vehicle taking of the Land Rover at Newmarket on Friday, August 11 and criminal damage, of £6,000 worth of crops, which were destroyed when he drove the Land Rover into a field in a bid to escape from police.

The crash happened at about 4.30pm on Sunday, August 13, near to Old Harleston Road.
