The future of a seaside museum and cafe in need of "substantial repairs" has been left in limbo as councillors demand more information on the plans.

The Rocket House building in Cromer, which is owned by North Norfolk District Council (NNDC), is corroding and in need of restoration work

NNDC’s cabinet discussed what should be done with the building at a meeting on Monday but much of the talk was behind closed doors.

While the property, which sits on the east promenade, is owned by the Liberal Democrat-run authority, sections are leased to a cafe and the RNLI Henry Blogg Museum.

What the future holds for the site is unknown, with Tim Adams, the leader of the authority, saying the council has requested a further report be presented on the options for the site and that councillors will set out their preference following a further confidential briefing.

The building is around 16 years old and has already been through two storm surges and sea flooding events in 2007 and 2013.

The building also suffers from leaky pipes, as well as lifts and windows that need replacing.
