A damaged caravan has been removed from a Great Yarmouth holiday park following a fire.

A static caravan at Haven Seashore Holiday Park caught fire on Tuesday, August 29, after a disposable barbecue was left unattended on the decking.

Crews from Yarmouth and Gorleston were called to the blaze in North Drive at around 11.35pm.

The stop message was received at 1.08am.

A Haven spokesperson has confirmed no holidaymakers were injured and there were no other safety concerns following the incident.

The spokesperson added: "We can confirm the emergency services were called to attend to a fire on the decking of a caravan

"The safety of our guests is always our top priority, and the park team worked with the emergency services swiftly to ensure no holidaymakers were harmed."

Following the fire, the damaged caravan was sectioned off and has since been removed from the site.

Two other caravans received minor damage, but both are reparable.

The holiday park said it makes clear in all information packs that charcoal barbecues in a fireproof container are acceptable to use, but must be used adjacent to holiday homes and not directly on the ground or decking.
