Two "bizarre injuries" and a bike stunt gone wrong are set to feature in a new ITV documentary filmed in Norwich and airing this week.

Earlier this year, camera crews honed in on the A&E department of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for the television series Emergency Nurses: A&E Stories.

The series will hit television screens this week and focus on the lives and work of staff in the busy department - which sees thousands of patients every month.

Eastern Daily Press:

It is the first time in 15 years that a documentary has been based at the hospital, with filming taking place over the course of a number of weeks earlier this year.

The 10-episode series will show just some of the major traumas, serious injuries and illnesses the emergency department team help to treat across their regular working days.

Filming saw crews shadow staff between March and June of this year.

The first episode will include three emergency nurses - Jess, Hayley and Connor, treating two "bizarre injuries", while another nurse, Toni, treats a teenager who ended up in the department after a bike stunt went wrong.

The episode will also feature two other nurses, Charlie and Gerry, race to help stabilise a patient who was involved in a road traffic collision.

Nancy Fontaine, chief nurse at the N&N, said: "I'd like to thank our emergency department colleagues and teams that support them for opening their doors to the cameras and giving the public a valuable insight into their work and clinical expertise.

"I've had a sneak preview [of the series], which is a great showcase for the hugely dedicated, professional and friendly team in our emergency department.

The first episode of the series will be broadcast on ITVBe at 9pm on Tuesday, September 5. The series will run for 10 weeks and also be streamed on ITV X.
