The Cromer seahorse auction has taken place at the pier and raised thousands of pounds for local charities and the annual Cromer Crab and Lobster Festival.

More than 80 seahorse sculptures were decorated by local artists, schools, businesses and community groups as part of this year's art trail around the town.

They were sold at an auction at the Esplanade outside Cromer Pier.

The auction has raised thousands for charity - with an official figure set to be announced later this week.

Emma Spagnola, mayor of Cromer, thanked everyone who took part in the seahorse art trail and those who turned out for the auction.

"It was wonderful, beautiful day," she said.

"We couldn't have had a better day for it - the sun was shining and it was lovely to see so many people out and about again."

The small seahorses up for auction measured one metre, with the larger ones being 1.5m.

The auction coincided with the 'World Crabbing Competition', which took place at Cromer Pier the same afternoon.
