A former lord mayor says he is lucky to be alive after being involved in a "nightmare" car crash while on holiday in France.
Keith Driver, a Labour councillor on Norwich City Council, was away in Brittany earlier this month when he suffered a host of injuries in the horror smash.
He said there was "nothing left" of the Peugoet 308 he was driving, with him and six other people involved all requiring hospital treatment.
The crash happened at around 11.45am near Rostrenen on Sunday, August 6 after another motorist pulled out in front of Mr Driver's car, causing him to "t-bone" the other motorist at 42mph.
Mr Driver said: "I was on my way to the supermarket to buy some oil because my warning light had come on and the other car sped out in front of me out of nowhere.
"I didn't even see him pull out. I had no time to even get my foot on the brake - it was a nightmare.
"There was a horrendous bang, all the airbags went off and we were just spinning and spinning.
"I just thought that could be it, there was nothing left of my car at all, it was unbelievable really."
Mr Driver and a friend who was in the car with him at the time were taken to a local hospital for further treatment - but were both discharged on the same day.
Local news reports state that 19 firefighters attended the scene of the crash, with seven people injured in total.
The former lord mayor came away from the crash battered and bruised, suffering injuries to his arm, chest, back and ankle.
He said: "I could barely lift my arm to fill up the kettle afterwards, it was that frail.
"We are really lucky to have come out alive."
