A weather warning has been issued as thunderstorms are set to hit Norfolk.

The yellow warning has been put in place by the Met Office, with the risk of flooding and disruption tonight (August 18).

It is in place from 8pm today to 5am tomorrow (August 19).

A spokesman for the Met Office said that people should expect a very heavy downpour and up to 20mm of rainfall an hour accompanied by thunder, and lightning. 

He added that Norfolk will be hit by "intense" rainfall as Storm Betty sweeps across the south western parts of the country.

The Met Office has warned there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes or hail.

There is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

Loss of power and flooding are also possible and there is a small chance of fast-flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life.
