A man launched an unprovoked attack on the dance floor of a Norwich nightclub, repeatedly punching a fellow reveller he had just befriended.
Luke Corley, 24, carried out the assault during a night out at Bar and Beyond on Prince of Wales Road on May 28 this year.
Norwich Magistrates' Court heard the two men had earlier met on friendly terms outside the club and his victim had thought he was a “nice bloke”.
Prosecutor Rima Bejum said Corley later approached his victim on the dance floor and said “do we have a problem” before punching him in the face.

David Foulks, mitigating, said: “He has taken stock since this incident and been given a chance to get some help for his drinking. He wants to avoid this type of situation in future.”
Corley, of Bartram Close in Hethersett, who had pleaded guilty to assault was ordered to pay the victim £250 compensation.
District Judge David Wilson said he was taking an “unusual step” of handing him a conditional discharge as he was already subject to a treatment order from a previous offence.
