A man who was stabbed to death outside his flat told others who came to help members of a Norwich gang had been responsible, a court has heard.

Joe Dix, 18, was attacked in Vale Green, Mile Cross, by a group "involved in the supply of drugs" wearing balaclavas and wielding weapons.

Mr Dix's partner, Lauren Carr, called 999 shortly before 7pm on January 28 last year to tell emergency services her boyfriend had been stabbed.

Norwich Crown Court heard he was taken to hospital but pronounced dead at 8.06pm by which time his alleged attackers, Hans Beeharry, Benjamin Gil and Cameron Palmer, all 19, were playing football in the city.

On Tuesday the jury of seven men and five women heard witness statements read out in court, including from a friend of Mr Dix whose flat Miss Carr burst into after the stabbing.

The friend, who had known Mr Dix for about a year, rushed out to help and found the teenager "lying on the floor" with wounds to his abdomen.

The friend said Mr Dix was conscious and talking and had said "it was OTM".

He said OTM, or On the Money, was "one of the gangs" in Norwich with others including NR3 and NR5 which were otherwise known as "the third and the fifth".

The witness said the rival gang to these gangs was OTM.

He said: "This is all talk Joe Dix has said in the past. I didn't have any knowledge of them".

Another man who went to help Mr Dix saw the wound and described it as being like a "hole with what looked like his insides coming out".

He added: "It looked like a tennis ball was coming out of his stomach".

Beeharry, of Bracondale, Norwich, Gil, of Lefroy Road, Norwich and Palmer, of Theobald Road, Norwich, all deny murder.

Yaman Uslu, 19, of Horner Close, Norwich, has pleaded not guilty to a separate offence of assisting an offender.

The trial continues.
