A bid to extend a prominent holiday park has been delayed after councillors voted to visit the site.
A proposed scheme to transform agricultural land in Pakefield, Lowestoft with an "extension of Pakefield Holiday Park" had been earmarked for approval.
With plans - centring around "Extension of Pakefield Holiday Park to provide for the following development on land to the west of the park" - lodged by agents Savills (UK) Limited on behalf of Park Holidays UK Ltd, officers had recommended councillors approve the scheme.
This included "a new and improved access and main site entrance off the A12; new entrance buildings and clubhouse facility; the siting of 86 additional static holiday caravans, involving the rollback of existing static caravans away from the coast and environmental improvements and landscaping throughout".
However, a decision was deferred as councillors unanimously voted in favour of viewing the site first during a meeting of East Suffolk Council's planning committee north in Riverside, Lowestoft on Tuesday.
The meeting included a presentation from Pakefield resident Patricia Batley on behalf of the Jubilee Road residents, as well as presentations from the applicant's agents and East Suffolk ward councillor Peter Byatt.
With the proposals "to construct a new access directly off the A12 to serve the expansion site as well as the existing site", the new access is earmarked "as a left in, left out only access."
However, various concerns were raised over this proposed new access entrance - particularly the "no right turn" signage - along with an increase in traffic, as well as noise from the proposed clubhouse and the proximity of the caravans to the existing homes on Jubilee Road.
After a lengthy discussion, councillor Paul Ashdown proposed a site visit, which was seconded by councillor Malcolm Pitchers and unanimously backed by all councillors during a vote.
The site visit is expected to take place early next month ahead of the council's next planning committee north meeting.
