A major route into the city is undergoing a number of closures over the next three months.
Improvement works on Newmarket Road are starting next Monday (August 14).
Norfolk County Council claims the aims of the project are to create safer and larger crossings, encourage walking and cycling and improve bus routes.
Graham Plant, cabinet member for highways, infrastructure and transport, said: "This project will improve facilities for those travelling through the area on foot and by bicycle, as well as improving the bus route through the roundabout junction.
"The existing bus stop on Newmarket Road is being retained following feedback from the consultation and I look forward to this scheme being added to the network of sustainable transport improvements being made across Norwich."
From August 14 to September 29, Christchurch Road and Lime Tree Road will close at their junctions with Newmarket Road.
There will be lane closures on the Daniels Road roundabout from September 10 to September 24 followed by overnight closures until September 27.
Overnight from September 18 to September 27, there will be closures on the A11 between Albemarle Road and Daniels Road roundabout.
From October 2 to November 17, Eaton Road and Leopold Road will close at their junctions with Newmarket Road.
There will be further lane closures on the Daniels Road roundabout from October 19 to November 10 followed by overnight closures until November 15.
Overnight from November 6 to November 15, there will be closures on the A11 between Claremont Road and Daniels Road roundabout.
Diversions will be in place and access to properties will be maintained throughout the project.
All bus services will continue as normal and safe crossings will be in place for cyclists and pedestrians.
The project, which costs more than £1million, is being funded by the Transforming Cities Fund awarded to the county council by the Department for Transport.
