One man is attempting to complete seven marathons in seven days - all while pushing a barrel of beer.
David Holliday from Moon Gazer ales, in Hindringham, between Fakenham and Wells, will attempt the 186-mile challenge between Sunday, October 1 to 7, travelling across Norfolk with his 75kg bright blue barrel of beer, all aimed to raise awareness of testicular cancer and Norfolk cancer charity, It's On The Ball.
“The work of It’s on the Ball helps to highlight that it is young men – aged 18 - 24 – who are most likely to be affected, but by checking themselves monthly they can have a 98pc survival rate,” Mr Holliday said.
“However, late diagnosis can all too often be fatal as the cancer spreads very vigorously.
“Young men of that age think they are indestructible, and that cancer is an old person’s disease, they often ignore the warning signs, equally they think that 98pc can be cured, so that’s fine.
The seven-day challenge will see the 58-year-old brewer be tested physically as he pushes the barrel, which is about half as heavy as a Panda Bear, across the county; with a fundraising event on each evening.
He is also welcoming people to join him along the route, and will also have a live tracker during the challenge so people can follow him.
“It is great to have company along the way and to take my mind off how heavy the barrel is,” Mr Holliday added.
“During last year's challenge when I pushed the barrel to St Barts Hospital in London, we raised £22,000 and we want to try and boost that to £35,000 before I hang my beer push boots up.”
