There will be fun and games galore at this year’s Sheringham Carnival, which takes place from Sunday, July 30 to Saturday, August 5.

As always, the highlights will be crowning day on Sunday and parade day Wednesday.

Here’s a rundown of what’s happening:

Sunday (July 30)
Crowning day events take place on the Leas, including the makers’ market and seaside games (midday), dance display (12.30pm) crowning ceremony (12.30pm), bonnie baby contest (12.30pm), glamorous granny contest (1.30pm), children’s fancy dress (2.30pm) and Punch and Judy (three sessions).

Monday
The Reef Beach Day on West Beach (2pm), Playing for Cake in the Lobster garden (2pm-4pm), burlesque at St Joseph’s Church Hall (7.30pm), Jigsaw Jiggle at the Morley Club (6.30pm).

Tuesday
Chalk a picture on The West Prom (10am-midday), vintage tea party at St Joseph’s Church Hall (2pm-4pm, advance tickets only), carnival quiz (7.30pm, also at the hall, bring your own drinks).

Wednesday
Carnival Parade using the long route including Beeston Road, Wyndham Street and High Street (6.30pm). 

Thursday
Children’s Boat Building at The Leas boating lake (2pm), Shantymen concert on Lifeboat Plain (7.30pm).

Friday 
Pirate Day. Duck and ping pong races on Beeston Beck (10am-midday), pirate challenge, pirate crafting, blue duck cash prize draw at the Clock Tower (midday-2pm), children’s pirate party at the Tyneside Club (2pm-5pm), Pirate Joe and the Foreign Locals at the Lobster (evening).

Saturday
Fun on the Beach for friends and families including a beat the tide and sand castle contest (from 3.30pm, bring your own buckets and spades). 

There will also be a manned stall at the Clock Tower from Monday to Friday where volunteers will give out advice and directions and people will be able to buy competition sheets, treasure maps and ducks for the duck race.
