Forty new affordable homes are being built with wooden frames and eco-friendly features to help reduce energy bills.

Flagship Homes, Burmor Construction and LoCal Homes have started work on the development at Narborough, near Swaffham.

The properties, on Chalk Lane to the south of the village, are expected to be completed early next year.

A mixture of two, three and four-bed houses will be available to rent or via a shared ownership scheme.

They are being built by so-called modern methods of construction (MMC), using pre-fabricated timber frames to deliver "high-performing, energy-efficient homes".

Frames are fitted with recycled insulation and cladding before external brickwork is added.

The system helps to ensure superior insulation, airtightness, and energy efficiency, resulting in lower energy consumption and reduced utility bills for residents when they move in.

Sam Harwin, senior quantity surveyor for Burmor Construction, said: "We are thrilled to be collaborating with Flagship Homes and LoCaL Homes on the development in Narborough.

"We are harnessing the power of MMC and creating sustainable, high-quality homes that meet the evolving needs of the community."

Mike Doolan, sales and partnerships manager from LoCaL Homes, said, "The early engagement and collaboration with Burmor Construction and LoCaL Homes is a clear demonstration that MMC has many benefits and adds value for all.

"We look forward to seeing the completed homes being handed over to the new residents."

Anna Cook-Bacon, head of partnerships for Flagship Homes, said: "Partnering with Burmor and LoCaL Homes, we're able to seamlessly integrate innovative techniques and technologies into our projects, providing our customers with not just affordable places to live, but places to love that will offer a better quality of life for generations to come."
