Everybody has had a carvery for Sunday lunch, but what about for breakfast?

A pub in Fakenham is aiming for a slice of the morning buffet market by launching what it calls a 'breakfast carvery'.

The Crown Market Place has recently made the shift from serving cooked-to-order breakfasts following a reopening of its hotel rooms, which happened last July.

Alie May-Hannam, the landlady, said it made sense given the pub has served Sunday carveries for the past six years and had all the equipment it needed.

And Ms May-Hannam said she was delighted with the response so far.

She said: “As the hotel has got busier I decided to change it to a breakfast carvery, and also decided to open it up to the public.

“We’ve built a big following for it and our regulars already come in every week and even bring their friends with them to enjoy the food.

"With the warmer weather, we're seeing a lot more people coming to enjoy our courtyard and to sit outside and eat their breakfast.”

The deal includes tea, coffee, orange, apple juice, three kinds of cereal, fruit salad and a selection of yogurts.

There are also gluten-free butcher sausages, bacon, black pudding, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs, and baked beans.

All the eggs come from a local farm, and vegetarian or vegan sausages are available.

The buffet costs £10 and runs from 7am to 10am Monday to Saturday, with plans to extend it to 11am for the summer holidays.

On Sunday, the breakfast carvery runs from 8am to 10am - it has to close early to allow staff to get ready for the 'regular' carvery at lunchtime.
