Anglian Water has issued an apology for the ongoing disruption caused after a sinkhole appeared in the middle of a market town.
Police were called to Surrogate Street in Attleborough at 5.15pm on Monday following reports that a hole had opened up in the road.
Workers from Anglian Water have since put up barriers around the area and restricted access to nearby Church Street and Besthorpe Road, causing major disruption to traffic through the town.
A number of bus routes have been diverted because of the emergency road closure.
A spokesman for Anglian Water said: "We are sorry for any traffic disruption in Station Road.
"We have needed to close the road to enable us to repair a burst main which has caused a sinkhole in the road.
"Our teams are working on-site to complete the job and we hope to reopen the road by the end of the week."
First Norwich continues to divert its 13, 13A and 13B services, saying stops at Mill Lane, Brickfield Terrace and High School travelling towards the town centre will not be served.
