A main road through a Norfolk market town remains closed this today after a sinkhole appeared.

Police were called to Surrogate Street close to St Mary's Church in Attleborough at about 5.15pm on Monday.

Other roads including Church Street and Besthorpe Road were also closed last night

In a tweet they said: "Due to a burst water main near the Church, Attleborough, we are diverting.

"We will run as far as Wymondham lights, via the A11 to Ellingham Rd, Attleborough loop in reverse, Shrub Close directly to Queens Square."

Anglian Water staff are at the site today to start work on fixing the problem.
