A yellow weather warning for "unseasonably" high winds has been issued for Norfolk.

The Met Office warning, which is in place most of Saturday, comes ahead of the weekend as an area of low pressure is set to create strong wind conditions for much of the county.

Gusts of wind will likely hit 55mph on Saturday, causing travel disruption and damage to temporary structures such as marquees and tents.

The agency warns some coastal communities may be affected by large waves and sea spray but winds will die down later in the evening and overnight.

The county was hit by thunderstorms on Wednesday evening that saw up to two inches of rainfall in a short period of time.

Temperatures soared to 30C last week due to an area of low pressure in the west drawing up warm and humid air from southern Europe, prompting an urgent heat alert by The UK Health Security Agency.
