A Norfolk winemaker has been named among the UK's best by the prestigious WineGB awards.
Chet Valley Vineyard at Bergh Apton was awarded a Bronze Medal for its House of Hemmant Blanc de Blancs 2021.
Owner and winemaker John Hemmant said: “We are delighted that the very first vintage of our premium sparkling wine has been recognised in the most important awards for English wine.
“We worked for a very long time to perfect all aspects of making this wine and to receive such an accolade at the first time of asking is a huge achievement.”
The winning wine is made from Chardonnay grapes using a "Champagne method" - with a secondary fermentation in the bottle.
The vineyard's first vintage, the £30 unoaked wine has flavours of apples, pear and citrus.
Chet Valley Vineyard wine is available from their website and is also stocked at local retailers including Jarrold, Bakers and Larners and the Norfolk Deli.
