Rogue fly-tippers are being hunted by the council after more than 130 bags of waste were dumped near Great Yarmouth.

The town's council is appealing for help to catch the culprits after a number of incidents along Hobland Road in Browston in recent months.

Leaders have warned those responsible could face heavy fines and even imprisonment and have promised to hold those responsible for this "outrageous criminal act" to account.

The council has warned people getting rid of rubbish have a legal duty to check anyone taking it from them has a proper licence.

Anyone who uses an illegal collector could be prosecuted and fined up to £5,000 if dumped waste can be traced back to them.

The abandonment of waste is an offence under the Environmental Protection Act and the maximum penalty is an unlimited fine and/or imprisonment.
