Two inspirational "farm heroes" have been honoured for their innovation and long service to Norfolk agriculture.

The 2023 Aylsham Show Norfolk County Farm Business Competition has announced two additional category winners after revealing the championship winners earlier this month.

The Innovative Farming Award went to poultry producer Nigel Joice of Uphouse Farm in South Raynham, near Fakenham.

And the prize for Services to Norfolk Agriculture was won by Tony Nicholson of machinery dealer Nicholsons - Stalham Engineering Co.

Speaking at the Royal Norfolk Show, where he has exhibited for almost 50 years, the 82-year-old said he was "a bit overwhelmed" by the award.

"I've done this all my life," he added. "I can remember the steam engines and I can remember going out with my father and riding the horses, now the machinery is worth hundreds of thousands of pounds."

The awards will be presented at a farm walk hosted by overall farm business champion Raynham Farm Company from 6pm on July 4 at Hall Farm, Toftrees, NR21 7EB.

Awards organisers congratulated the winners and thanked awards sponsors Brown&Co, and farm walk sponsors Frontier Agriculture and Payne Crop Nutrition.
