A climate activist who admitted taking part in protests that forced the emergency shutdown of an oil terminal has escaped with a community punishment.
Nicola Stickells, 53, was sentenced to just 100 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation days following Just Stop Oil protests at Buncefield in Hertfordshire in April 2022.
She had previously pleaded guilty at St Albans Magistrates Court breaching enclosed premises for an unlawful purpose and obstructing lawful activity.

The court was told the charges involved her climbing on vehicles and structures containing and distributing fuel forcing the oil terminal to enact an emergency shutdown.
Stickells, of High Road, Needham, near Harleston, has previously taken part in numerous eco-protests including blockading an M25 service station and smashing windows at the headquarters of Barclays bank.
