A team of five farming friends from across the country have claimed one of the top livestock trophies at the Royal Norfolk Show.

The Heygates Country Feeds Team of Five competition was judged in front of the massed Grand Ring crowds following the Grand Parade of Cattle and Shire Horses.

The winners were a team of Beef Shorthorn animals brought by breeders Tina Russell from Oxford, Mary Reynolds from Hampshire, Charlie Maclean from Cambridge, and Graham Hunt and Chris Yeoman, both showing cattle from Yorkshire.

Tina Russell said: "We are all from different areas, but we are a very friendly breed, so we know each other very well through our cattle.

"It is great that we can come out here and represent the Beef Shorthorn breed, which we are all very passionate about.

"It is an honour to come out here and be selected to represent the breed - and to win is the icing on the cake."

Mr Hunt said he has shown livestock at the Royal Norfolk Show for 30 years, adding, "I do them all, but this is my favourite.

"The whole atmosphere is fantastic, they bend over backwards to look after you here."
