A bridge in the Broads that gets raised to allow boats to pass through is unable to open due to "heat restrictions".

Network Rail made the decision today amid rising temperatures that are set to reach more than 30C this weekend.

It remains closed on Sunday (June 25).

The issue will cause problems for boaters navigating the waterways this weekend, meaning bigger boats will not be able to pass through to and from Lowestoft on the River Waveney.

The Broads Authority issued an urgent notice earlier today (June 24).

The railway swing bridge was built in 1905 to carry the Norwich to Lowestoft line over the river.

It is one of only four remaining railway swing bridges crossing rivers in The Broads.
