It was a case of bubble trouble after a foam party for young Norfolk farmers resulted in the fire service being called.

Diss Young Farmers Club (YFC) held a foam party at Barn Owl Farm in Barnham Broom, a village located between Norwich and Dereham, on Saturday (June 17) between 7pm and 1am.

However, at just after 6.30am on Sunday, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to the farm to assist police with a "hazardous incident" following reports of eye irritation from attendees.

However, a statement issued by Norfolk YFC on behalf of its Diss branch, said the foam has now been tested and has a "neutral PH".

The fire service sent appliances from Hingham, Wymondham and the environmental protection unit from Sprowston.

A Norfolk Fire Service post on social media said: "If anyone is suffering eye irritation or pain, wash out for at least 10 minutes with water.

"If the irritation or pain persists please present to your local A&E or walk-in clinic."

A spokesman for Diss YFC said: "Thank you for coming last night - we hope you had a great night and thank you for your support - it was great to have the bubbles back!

"We have been made aware that there are some people with slight eye irritation.

"The services have advised us to tell you to wash them out thoroughly with clean water, the foam liquid has been tested by HSE [The Health and Safety Executive] and found to be safe with a neutral PH.

"We think these limited cases are from people not washing for hours after contact with the foam.

"All relevant First Aid was provided on the night with eye washing stations.

"It was also made clear to all that you enter the event at your own risk."
