A woman allegedly raped by a Norwich man said she laid there "pretending to be dead almost" in a bid to help end the ordeal, a court has heard.

The complainant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was one of two women allegedly raped by Ryan Hase.

The 29-year-old has gone on trial at Norwich Crown Court having been charged with rape and assault by penetration against one of the women, between March 1, 2011, and May 11, 2011.

Eastern Daily Press:

Hase, of Bentley Way, near Mile Cross Lane, Norwich has also been accused of two counts of rape against another woman, between January and December 2015.

On Tuesday (June 13) jurors heard the first complainant giving evidence via a recorded interview given to police about the allegations in 2011.

She said Hase had "raped and sexually assaulted me".

Describing the occasion she was raped the woman said Hase "made a move" on her but she said no.

"I definitely said no.

"But he still climbed on top and was still trying to make a move.

"I just laid there and he said 'come to peace with it'.

"I can remember him pulling down my jeans and me thinking 'I've said no'.

"I thought I can't fight him off as I'm not strong enough and just laid there.

"I just remember laying there pretending to be dead almost to try and make it as unappealing as I could.

"I thought he would get bored and he eventually did".

The woman also told police about a second incident when she was left "really hurt" and bleeding after being sexually assaulted by Hase.

The jury of eight men and four women have heard previously from Robert Bryan, prosecuting, about two rapes Hase is accused of committing against another complainant, in 2015.

Hase, who is represented by Jonathan Goodman, has denied all four offences.

The trial continues.
