A man accused of raping two women told one of them to "come to peace with it", a court has heard.

Ryan Hase, 29, has gone on trial at Norwich Crown Court having been charged with rape and assault by penetration against one of the women, between March 1, 2011, and May 11, 2011.

Hase, of Bentley Way, near Mile Cross Lane, Norwich has also been accused of two counts of rape against another woman, between January and December 2015.

Robert Bryan, prosecuting, opened the crown's case on Monday (June 12) and said the women, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had not given their consent for what happened to them.

The jury of eight men and four women heard the first allegation of rape happened while Hase and the complainant were both 17.

Mr Bryan said Hase had been "trying to engage her in sexual activity" before going on to rape her.

He said the complainant, who later confided in friends and her mother about this incident and a subsequent sexual assault, was to tell police he "made a move" on her.

This was despite her not being in the mood and he had sex with her saying later she had to "come to peace with it".

In terms of the two rapes against another complainant, in 2015, Mr Bryan said she described him grabbing her and "holding her down" in one of the rapes.

He said despite her pleading with him to stop he had "unlawful sexual intercourse with her".

Mr Bryan said the complainant was raped on a second occasion by Hase who "had sex with her in public until they were interrupted by members of the public".

Hase, who is represented by Jonathan Goodman, has denied all four offences.

The trial continues.
