A Cold War bunker buried beneath a Norfolk field is up for sale - offering a rare chance to own a "fascinating piece of military history".
The atmospheric underground relic in Barnham Broom, between Norwich and Dereham, has hit the market with a guide price of £25,000.
It was used as a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post between 1962 and 1991, during the prolonged period of post-war tensions between the Soviet Union and the USA, along with its allies.
Situated in a small area of grassland, the tiny two-room bunker, complete with rudimentary toilet, lies beneath a raised manhole lid above a metal staircase, while an air vent leads to a second ground-level outlet.
The main room, measuring 4.75m by 2.25m, still contains remnants of its Cold War role, with a desk littered with papers, and an asbestos fire blanket.
"This is a fascinating piece of military history from a previous era of real international tension and fear of aggression from the Soviet Union," said James Hill, an associate at property firm Arnolds Keys, which is marketing the bunker.
“It is an opportunity to own a real piece of recent history, right here in Norfolk."
