A high-street chain may return to Norfolk after announcing closures at the beginning of the year.

M&Co, formerly Mackeys, will be popping up on high streets across the country again as it plans to reopen its shops.

The chain went into administration in December 2022, with stores in Hunstanton, Fakenham, Cromer, Attleborough and Diss closing down.

However, the business has since been acquired by AK Retail Holdings and a relaunch will see clothes sold both online and in the high street.

A branch of QD is now set to move into the former Hunstanton M&Co with plans for the other Norfolk locations undecided.

The first store openings are expected to take place in early autumn, with the brand expecting to open 50 stores over the next two years.

Andrew Killingsworth, CEO of AK Retail Holdings, said: "M&Co has an incredible heritage and a loyal customer following, and our goal is to honour that legacy by providing an unparalleled shopping experience while preserving the brand's identity."

The retailer will reveal the stores that are set to reopen in the coming weeks.
