A woman who made Norwich her home after training at beauty school in London’s Mayfair is set to shut her doors for the final time.  

From checking on her clients weekly during an unprecedented lockdown to building an established business, Trudi Revell has seen it all.

Ms Revell, the long-established owner of Trudi’s Beauty Centre on St Andrew’s Hill, has decided to take a well-earned rest and retire after half a century in the business. 

She first trained in London’s Mayfair in 1972 and then opened her first beauty salon in the city.

Initially based at John Olivers Hair Salon in Elm Hill, she moved into her own premises in Guildhall Hill. After seven years there, she then relocated to St Andrews Hill where she has remained ever since. 

A familiar face in the Norwich business community, Ms Revell has built up a team of therapists offering all aspects of beauty therapy, some of who stayed with her for fifteen years or more. 

She said: “It became more than a business and felt like we were a family.” 

She added that she will miss her St Andrews Hill business neighbours but will continue to offer therapy treatment from her home in Old Catton.

Mrs Anderson, a client for over 30 years, added: "She’s unique. There was always a warm welcome.

"The salon felt truly exclusive; a wonderful building which has been kept true to its origins of offering a calm oasis in the city centre.

"Trudi is a truly genuine person, demonstrated by her ringing her clients weekly during lockdown to check on our wellbeing, checking to see whether we needed any shopping.

"She's always thinking of others. 

"She deserves a rest after 50 years." 

Ms Revell will close the business in September.
