A retired groundsman has died after a fire broke out in his home in Norwich, an inquest has heard.
Stephen Webster, 88, of Greenwood Way, Heartsease, was declared dead at his home following the blaze on Saturday, June 3.
Led by assistant coroner Simon Milburn, the inquest was opened on Friday, June 9, at Norfolk Coroner’s Court based at County Hall in Norwich.
Mr Milburn said that Mr Webster’s daughter, Angela Mary Webster, identified her father and confirmed that he was born on June 19, 1934, in Northern Ireland.
He added: “Mr Webster died following a house fire.”
The medical cause of death was given as smoke inhalation.
A full inquest to determine the official cause of death will take place on the morning of Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
