Plans to turn a house into accommodation for hospital staff have been given the go-ahead.

John Levine has been given planning permission to change the use of a house on Gayton Road, near the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn.

A report to councillors said: "The building is proposed to be used as an HMO [house of multiple occupation] due to the demand of staff from the hospital needing accommodation close to their place of work.

"The site is located in a sustainable residential area, extremely close vicinity to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and within walking distance to the amenities of King's Lynn."

It said the house is already being used as a six-bed HMO, which does not require planning permission.

Mr Levine applied for a total of eight bedrooms, with a new shower room and the creation of two bedrooms from an existing room.

The QEH is set to undergo major expansion after the government confirmed it would fund a replacement next to the existing hospital, whose roof is held up by more than 4,000 props.
