A digger is moving in and scaffolding is up as a total overhaul begins at a nursing home in Great Yarmouth.

Residents of the Eversley Nursing Home on North Denes Road were temporarily relocated to other care homes in the area last month as the Eversley closed its doors for an upgrade.

In its place, the old 18-bedroom care home will be replaced with a modern centre with 42 rooms with en suite facilities.

The new Eversley Lodge Nursing Home will be built on the land of the former home, as well as that belonging to the Arden Court Hotel, which was demolished in 2018.

On Monday, scaffolding was being erected around the old care home. This follows the arrival of a digger at the end of last week.

The nursing home, which is operated by Kingsley Healthcare, is expected to open next autumn.

Once complete, the new Eversley will contain 42 bedrooms across three floors, with purpose-built en-suite wetrooms. There will also be three lounges, a reception area with a cafe and a hair salon for residents.
