A man has been jailed for a string of motor vehicle offences, fraud and shoplifting in Taverham.

Ross Warner, 31, of no fixed address, appeared before Norwich Magistrates Court on June 1 and was sentenced to eight weeks in prison.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of more than £1,500 to one of his victims.

Warner was arrested and charged in connection with a theft from a motor vehicle in Bell Close last year which he admitted.

He later admitted to eight more offences that were taken into consideration by the court as part of Operation Converter, an initiative aimed at encouraging offenders to admit to their crimes.

Of these, five were related to further thefts from motor vehicles on the same night in the same area of Taverham.

There was also one offence of attempted theft from a motor vehicle, one of fraud in which bank cards stolen from a vehicle were used to purchase items from a Nike store and one of shoplifting where two bottles of gin were stolen from a supermarket.

Items stolen from the vehicles included loose change and sunglasses.

One victim lost items worth £1,573, including a MacBook, headphones and clothing.
